The oil and gas sector has been instrumental in the overall economic growth and development of India. Hydrocarbon being prime source of energy, need for oil and gas is projected to grow further providing vast opportunities for investment. India’s own production has been stagnating for some years, so the country has to import petroleum to meet the demand. Against this backdrop, Government of India has allowed 100% FDI in many segments of the sector, such as natural gas, petroleum products, refineries and pipelines.
